Community Outreach:

On August 8, 2000, representatives from the United States Department of Transportation's Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS) participated in a community forum in Bellingham, Washington. The purpose of the forum was to discuss our findings to date and to provide an overview of remedial actions that must be completed as part of our Corrective Action Order. The main remedial actions that Olympic is required to complete prior to our consideration to return them to limited service are these: integrity testing and pipeline repair, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) enhancements, improved valve spacing and operation, overpressure protection, and controller training.

The power-point presentations that were used to support and illustrate the OPS-lead discussion of remedial actions completed to date are provided in the pulldown bar below. Specific questions raised by the audience are in the Frequently Asked Question of the website. The audience also showed interest in knowing what other natural gas and petroleum pipelines are located in Washington State.
